Signal Violation Prevention System

Signal Violation Prevention System[SVPS] is a kind of train protection system which issues the alarm and activates emergency braking in case that train under yard mode in depot or turn back section ignores or mistakes the stop signal and tries to proceed. Furthermore SVPS prevents the secondary accident by stopping all the train in the compound.

System Configuration

  • Axle Counter
A on-site device for detecting the movement of a train, consisting of a detection unit and a header unit, and transmitting train detection information to wayside equipment when a train passes
  • Signal Violation Prevention Device
A device that evaluates signal violations by comparing on-site train detection information with signal information from an electronic interlocking system and transmits the information to onboard equipment to notify the driver of the occurrence of a signal violation
  • On-board Interface Device
A device that ensures safe train operation by generating an alarm so that the driver can recognize when signal violation information is transmitted from the signal violation detection device

Research Field

AXLE DETECTION AND OCCUPANCY STATE ASSESSMENT

  • Detecting train operation, axle detection and direction/speed of train
  • Assessing the occupancy state by comparing two axle counter headers of Entry and Exit point

SIGNAL VIOLATION AND OVER-SPEED ENTRY ASSESSMENT

  • Assessing the signal violation state by comparing signal information at exit point axle detector
  • Assessing the overspeed entry by detecting train speed at entry point axle detector

On-site  Reliability Verification

Axle detection and train occupancy reliability verification

  • Verification of axle detection and train occupancy reliability through field installation testing
  • Reliability verification for signal violation occurrence

  Scenario-based signal violation on-site verification

  • Conducting on-site verification of signal violations based on various driving scenarios within the depot

Key Benefit

  • Predict delays in mainline due to signal violations within the depot
  • Raising safety awareness of railway operators through advance warning of signal violations within the depot
  • Reduced accident handling costs and enhanced operating agency status due to fewer accidents
